Essential Job Duties

  • Provides technical assistance and staff development to administrators, teachers and support staff regarding effective interventions and positive behavioral supports and techniques.
  • Serves as team leader for initial Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and triennial FBA updates. Reviews current FBAs annually.
  • Contributes to writing annual behavior intervention plans and aversive treatment plans and monitors their implementation and effectiveness for students. Assists in and monitors the collection of data and implementation of such plans to ensure student success.
  • Develops and maintains behavioral data and creates graphical data representations and reports for progress monitoring on a monthly basis for students with disabilities.
  • Develops and assists building staff to implement positive reinforcement-based classroom management systems.
  • Consults with transportation staff regarding the use of behavioral management programs on buses.
  • Provides direct support to students to enhance teacher and specialist instruction.
  • Maintains BCBA or BCaBA Certification or similar certification and maintains certification in district approved crisis intervention techniques.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Attends and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Complies with Board policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
  • Reports cases of suspected child abuse according to state law.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops.

  • Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events, gather, collate, and/or classify data and use job-related equipment.
  • Skill in adhering to safety practices.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records and using pertinent software applications (as required).

 

Equipment Used

  • Computer, calculator, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax, wheelchairs and other special needs equipment.

 

Required Qualifications

  1. Valid Montana Educator License with proper endorsement.
  2. Certification in the district approved crisis intervention techniques or ability to become certified within three months of employment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification preferred.
  2. Successful experience working with students with behavioral needs.

 

Necessary special requirements:

 

  • Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.

  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Frequently required to sit, occasionally walk and stand and reach with hands or arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
  • Significant fine finger dexterity
  • Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 10 - 30 pounds on a routine basis with or without an accommodation.
  • The employee frequently works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness intensity.
  • Frequently involved in interactions which require oral and written communications.
  • Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another.
  • Frequent travel/mobility between schools, or between schools and the Administration office, may be required.
  • Effective hearing and speech abilities.
  • Work area is generally a hazard free environment.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance performing duties as described.
  • Reports to work fit for duty with characteristics inherent to the position.
