Status:            Hourly Overtime eligible

                       Shift:  8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

 

Hourly Wage:   $13.39 - $15.02 DOE

 

Purpose

 

To implement the prescribed Positive Alternatives to School Suspension (PASS) Program for students who, as a result of repeated / serious office discipline referral(s), have been assigned to a 3 – 10 day intervention program.

 

Essential Job Duties  

  • Responsible for providing a safe, productive, well-structured environment that enables students to continue their academic progress.
  • Responsible for conducting the social/behavioral education lessons/sessions.
  • Responsible for the process designed for collecting student work from the teachers and returning of such work to the teachers at the end of each school day.
  • Responsible for maintaining communication with parents and eliciting parent support.
  • Responsible for the reporting of student behavior/progress during each school day via the PASS Report. This report will serve as a communication tool between the Coordinator and the parents/guardians as well as with school administration.
  • Consults with special education teachers to assure that IEP expectations are adhered to within the PASS program.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the use of a behavioral approach to motivate student learning and to teach behavioral skills.
  • Teaches social skills to those students assigned to PASS.
  • Contacts parent via daily phone call for all students currently assigned to PASS.
  • Communicates with other professionals (e.g. – administrators, counselors, teachers) regarding individual student needs and progress.
  • Provides consultation to school staff regarding student behavior and intervention plans.
  • Monitors student progress by use of the PASS Daily Progress Report.
  • Assists in gathering data for Functional Behavior Assessments for current or previous PASS students.
  • Assists in developing Individual Behavior Support Plans as needed for exiting or previous PASS students.

  • Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.

  • Ability to set priorities, work as part of a team and work with and manage frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student matters.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board policies.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records and using pertinent software applications (as required).

 

Required Qualifications

 

  1. Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
  2. Demonstrated strong academic background.
  3. Ability to work with middle aged school students in an effective and efficient manner.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  2. Math/ELA Skills encouraged
  3. Educator Licensure
  4. Successful experience performing same or similar work.

  • Guidance and reinforcement are usually unavailable.
  • The employee frequently works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness intensity.
  • Frequently involved in interactions which require oral and written communications.
  • Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another.
  • Occasional travel/mobiility between schools, or between schools and the Administration office, may be required.
  • Effective hearing and speech abilities.
  • Work area is generally a hazard free environment.
