Starting Pay:           $41,000.00 -$51,877.00 Depends on Education and Experience. 

 

Purpose

 

To provide, as a member of the counseling department staff, a comprehensive counseling program for students in grades five (5)  through eight (8) and specifically provide services to meet the needs of assigned students; consult with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance effectiveness in helping students; and to provide support to other middle school educational programs.

 

Essential Job Duties

 

• Implement the middle school guidance curriculum through the delivery of classroom units and infusion in content areas.
• Guide individuals and groups of students through the development of educational plans.
• Counsel individuals and small groups of students with problems.
• Consult with teachers, staff, and parents regarding the developmental needs of students.
• Refer students with problems to appropriate program specialists or community agencies.
• Participate in, coordinate and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and school.
• Participate in and facilitate the intervention team process.
• Plan and evaluate the building counseling program.
• Works collaboratively with other counselors and counseling staff; and works cooperatively with other school and district staff.
• Knowledge of school schedules for master schedule and changing student schedules. 
• Pursue continuous professional growth.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university or college.
2. Current Montana Educators License.
3. Current Endorsement in School Counseling K-8 or K-12.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Successful experience working with middle school students.
2. Successful counseling experience in a K-12 system.

 

 

Necessary special requirements:

 

• Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.
